Interior Designing Myths

Interior designing is an art. In truth, no art can be governed and restricted by a set of rules. Yet the world of home and commercial setting decoration is plagued with some “Must Dos”.  Our team of top interior designers take out some time to bust some myths.

Here they are!

Myth 1: All Ceiling Should Be Painted White

While white ceiling are the way to go in some instances, there is no hard and fast rule. You can get creative and add some colour to ceiling, depending on its height and type. Some bright colours, textures, patterns, and designs are some ideas that you can use to make your ceiling look interesting and more vibrant.

Myth 2: You Should Choose Your Decor Outside Because Of Natural Light

The reality of the situation is that it is best recommended to select the decor ideas, like paint colour or upholstery fabric in its actual setting. Allow some light to enter and see how the designs fit in with the surrounding. Making a decision in another setting will give you different results, because you’re viewing it in different light.

Myth 3: Colours Affect Everyone The Same Way

It is a proven fact that colours impact our moods and elicit emotions. However, while blue has a soothing affect on you, it may not bring out the same emotions in your partner. This is a simple matter of perception. So, it is advisable to work with accent, instead of making one colour your focal point.

Myth 4: You Have To Work With The Same Style

Your interior designer works in a way to reflect your personal style. While good designs are just that: good; great designs are ones that are inspired by different styles of the residents of the home, blending and collecting ideas to form an exquisitely designed space. The concept of creative chaos is one that many great designers know how to incorporate.

Does Your Kitchen Need A Makeover?

For most of us, our kitchens are a way of providing some functional utility of cooking or dining. For others, it is a matter of pride and prestige. They value style and perfection. This path to perfection will begin when you first determine if you really need to remodel your kitchen; and if yes, where you need to focus.

Here are some factors that will help you decide: Remodel or not?

Question # 1: How Would You Rate Your Current Kitchen Layout And Appliance?

The very first step in determining the need is to rate what you already have. Is the colour and style of the architectural design outdated? Does the appliance not function to their full capacity? With the addition of new appliances, how would it really benefit your current situation? Consider these factors to establish a rational need.

Question # 2: Is The Lighting Adequate In All Parts Of The Kitchen?

With the lack of natural light flowing in, you may have to settle for extra artificial lightings. But even with all the additions, do you still find yourself working in inadequate lighting? Does your kitchen look dull and dark? Sometimes, the dark flooring, combined with bold colour ceilings may work negatively. Proper lighting, with complementary colour themes would be an ideal fix to enhance the aesthetics of the layout.

Question # 3: Do You Need More Storage Capacity?

If your expensive kitchen counter is always crowed with appliances and containers, and if your cabinets are out of space, then your kitchen is in dire need of some reconstruction.  This is a bit of a technical aspect where size and space must be analyzed to find a suitable solution, so make sure you get in touch with professionals.

Whether you’re remodelling just your kitchen or revamping your room, KHI Interior Design is flexible with your requirements and your budget!
